Limited time exhibit to tour eight cities nationwide beginning June 23rd in Lower Manhattan’s landmark

New York, NY – June 5, 2017 – Westfield Corporation announced today the debut of UP CLOSE: MICHELANGELO’S SISTINE CHAPEL, an immersive limited time exhibit of museum quality, near-life size reproductions of the iconic masters frescos that adorn the Sistine Chapel in Rome.

The exhibit debuts in New York running June 23-July 23 in The Oculus at Westfield World Trade Center, followed by a six week exhibition at Westfield Garden State Plaza September 1-October 15 and six subsequent cities: Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Chicago and Annapolis, MD. Tickets for the exhibit at the Westfield World Trade Center start at $15 and are on sale now at www.westfield.com/upclose.

The breathtaking UP CLOSE: MICHELANGELO’S SISTINE CHAPEL allows visitors to experience one of the world’s greatest artistic achievements: Michelangelo’s renowned ceiling frescoes from the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, reproduced in near original size in a format that allows viewers to get face to face with the artist’s masterpieces. Through 34 reproductions artfully displayed in an immersive environment, this innovative presentation of world renowned pieces like The Creation of Adam and The Last Judgement brings audiences up close to the artwork; a perfect experience for those who have seen the pieces in their grandeur in Rome and want a closer look, or have never made the trip but want to experience the wonder and beauty themselves.

For art lovers and the devout both, this exhibit allows a way to experience the work in a contemporary and curated experience, uncluttered, self-timed and in-depth. Guests may enhance their experience by adding an optional audio guide, with narrative accompaniment available in 4 languages. Audio guides are available for $3 and are also included in some special ticket packages.

The exhibit will be open daily from June 23-July 22 between 10am-9pm in The Oculus at Westfield World Trade Center, 186 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007. Ticket prices start at $15 and are available in advance at www.westfield.com/upclose. Day of tickets are also available for sale at the Box Office. Special rates for students, seniors and members of the military are available.

UP CLOSE: MICHELANGELO’S SISTINE CHAPEL is a licensed exhibition of SEE Global Entertainment, a LA-based exhibition production company which acquired the worldwide rights to the fresco reproductions originally photographed by world-renowned photographer Erich Lessing and his archive.
